OPALESCENT ART GLASS CHERRIES BOWL SIGNED G. VALLON

An attractive antique French molded opalescent glass Cherries Bowl with a signature “G. VALLON” to the side. It has a smooth interior and molded cherry leaves and cherries to the sides with the cherries forming the three feet at the base. For lovers of cherries this Art Deco bowl with forever frozen in the opalescent glass cherries is an excellent present to any event or anniversary.

It has a subtle frosted blue and gold color. During manufacture, the glass cooled at different rates according to its thickness, causing crystallization and the characteristic, milky opalescence. The amber color comes from the addition of arsenic to the raw materials. The result is a glass which changes appearance and reflectivity with the light.

This piece has manufacturer’s mark “G. Vallon”.  It’s in excellent condition no chips or cracks. The interior has a few faint scratches and little sign of age.
